In partnership with the Sherwood Police Department, Sherwood School District is pleased to announce that Officer Preston Neumann has been selected to serve as a second School Resource Officer (SRO) for the District, and will begin his role on October 1, 2023. Officer Neumann will be assigned to Sherwood Middle School while Officer James Wolfer will continue his assignment at Sherwood High School, and both officers will share duties for the elementary schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officer Neumann brings to the Sherwood School District both a connection to the local community as well as a background in working with students, having grown up in Newberg and worked at the Sherwood YMCA in youth sports camps and the teen center. After graduating from Western Oregon University, he worked full-time as a Residence Director at Portland State University, working with college students to provide support in such areas as academics, social life, and mental health. In July of 2019, Officer Neumann graduated with a Master\u2019s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy, and shortly thereafter he began his law enforcement career in Oregon. He was hired by the Sherwood Police Department in 2022, and has spent time serving the city as a patrol officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEducation has always been a passion of mine,\u201d shared Officer Neumann. \u201cI look forward to combining my background in academics with my experience in law enforcement. Students deserve a safe place to learn, grow, and have fun. I am excited to help provide that for our Sherwood students.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
