Do you know what it means to \u201cdaisy chain\u201d a power strip or
\nsurge protector?<\/span><\/p>\n

When the safety committee conducts safety inspections in each
\nbuilding, we look for any daisy chained power strips. Daisy chaining is a term
\nthat refers to power strips and\/or extension cords being plugged into other
\npower strips and\/or extension cords.<\/p>\n

Daisy chaining usually occurs when there are not enough
\nestablished outlets to meet electrical needs.<\/p>\n

The Occupational Safety and Hazard Administration (OSHA)
\nrequires that all power strips and extension cords be plugged directly into a
\nwall outlet that is permanently installed. <\/p>\n

Take a look around your work space. If you see any daisy
\nchaining, please contact the maintenance department, or your local safety
\ncommittee member. We will take a look at your work space and help you come up
\nwith a more safe electrical solution.<\/p>\n
