The Oregon Department of Education has combined six initiatives that share common goals, overlapping processes, and similar reporting requirements. This effort is often referred to as the \u201cIntegrated Guidance Initiatives.\u201d The intent of the Integrated Initiatives is to streamline grant application processes and align strategies in order to provide better outcomes for students. The Oregon Department of Education has specifically bundled these nine program initiatives:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
High School Success (HSS) <\/strong>– Systems to improve graduation rates and college\/career readiness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Student Investment Account (SIA)<\/strong> – To meet students\u2019 mental health, behavioral needs and increase academic achievement\/reduce disparities for student focal groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Continuous Improvement Planning (CIP)<\/strong> – A process involving educator collaboration, data analysis, professional learning and reflection – toward improved outcomes for students and especially students experiencing disparity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Career and Technical Education – Perkins V (CTE)<\/strong> – Improving access and participation in education and training programs that prepare learners for high-wage, high-skill, in-demand careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Early Indicator and Intervention System (EIIS)<\/strong> – The development of a data collection and analysis system, in which educators collaborate, to identify supports for students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Every Day Matters – (EDM)<\/strong> – Embedded across the five other programs, focusing attention on student engagement, school culture, climate\/safety & culturally sustaining pedagogy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Career Connected Learning (CCL) – <\/strong>Framework of career awareness, exploration, preparation, and training that is both learner-relevant and directly linked to professional and industry-based expectations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Federal School Improvement – <\/strong>Address the academic disparities for named focal student groups and subject areas at schools identified as Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) and Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Early Literacy Success School District Grants (ELGSSG) <\/strong>– Grants to school districts in order to increase early literacy for children from birth to third grade, reduce literacy academic disparities for student groups that have historically experienced academic disparities, increase support to parents and guardians around literacy, and to increase access to early literacy learning through support that is research-aligned, culturally responsive, student-centered and family-centered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n On April 14, 2025, the Sherwood School District Board of Directors voted on the approval of the District’s Integrated Application, inclusive of the plan and budget.
